Access > User Editor lists everyone who has an account. The list has one row for each account, with columns for the number, Name, Alias, Level, City and Deleted. Use the toolbar (Save, Insert, Edit, Delete, Copy, Paste; see PBConfig) to add, change or remove a user. A deleted account stays in the list, marked in the Deleted column, until it is removed with PBUtil. See PBUtil.
Figure 1. The User Editor. Names and aliases have been blurred.
Each account has, among other things, a Name, an Alias, a Password and a Level. The level is a number that decides what the person may do: menus, message areas, file areas and limits are all tied to levels. Level 0 accounts cannot log in to FTP, and deleted accounts never can.
Decide your own level scheme before you open the board: for example a low level for new callers, a higher one for validated members and the highest for you. The sample data shows one possible set.
The User Editor changes the file (USERS.BBS) while the board is running. If the person is online when you change them, their record is rewritten when they log off and your edit is lost. Edit users who are offline.
Access > Time/Download Limits sets, for each security level, how many minutes per day, how many kilobytes per day, and the upload and ratio rules. It is the same LIMITS.PRO that 16-bit ProBoard used; it is converted if you upgrade.
These limits apply everywhere a caller downloads: on the BBS itself, through the web portal and through FTP. See Download rules.
You have two ways:
If you log in locally with a blank name, ProBoard fills in the sysop name from Site Info.
