The Mailer Monitor

Watch FidoNet-style mail sessions as they happen. There are two views of the same data.

The tile

The Mailer Monitor tile is hidden at first. Turn it on under View.

The Mailer Monitor tile Figure 1. The Mailer Monitor tile, after four calls. The remote sysop's name and a session key have been blurred.

The top right of the tile says how many lines are busy and gives today's totals, for example “0 of 4 lines busy” and “Today: 120 sessions, sent 0 B, received 77 KB”. The Open window button opens the classic window described below. The tile has four tabs:

Tab Shows
Lines One row for each mailer line (M1, M2 and so on), with the columns State, Remote system, File, Progress, Bytes, Speed and Time. The bar and speed move while a file is on its way. A line that sends and receives at once gets a second row. Click a row to select it; the log of that line appears under the table. Right-click a busy row for View Connection Window or Disconnect.
Log The mailer log.
History Finished calls, the last 500.
Outbound The queue for each uplink, its last session and its status.

A line shows Done or Failed for 20 seconds after a call. Many BinkP calls last less than a second, so the History tab is the place to see quick calls.

The window

View > Mailer Monitor Window, or Open window on the tile, opens the classic mailer screen: a line selector, a Session box (status, remote system, address, sysop, location, software, link, time), a Today box, a Transfer box with Transmit and Receive bars, the files in this session and the log. Both views follow the same selected line.

When you select a line, its log appears. It shows what the other system announced (its name, its sysop, the software, its addresses), whether the session was secure and a password was verified, and how many files were sent and received.
