Programs, installs and updates

A program does not start

If it says VCRUNTIME140.dll or MSVCP140.dll is missing, install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. See Before you install.

PBDispatch and PBTerm will not start without ssh.dll next to them, and libcrypto-3 is needed too. See Programs.

If you use the wrong package for your Windows, programs do not run properly. Use the Win32 package on 32-bit Windows and the x64 package on 64-bit.

PBInstall stopped with an error

Read the install log in LOGS. If it says the backup failed, nothing else was changed. Fix the cause (usually a full disk or a file in use) and run PBInstall again. See Installing ProBoard v4.

PBConfig says files are missing

On a fresh install, answer Yes and let it create them. After moving to v4, the Upgrade Data page opens for you. See Upgrading from 16-bit ProBoard.

User dates look wrong

Use Repair User Dates… on the Upgrade Data page. Stop all nodes first. See Upgrading from 16-bit ProBoard.

An update will not install

  • ProBoard.exe is running. Install when no callers are online, or use the force option knowingly.
  • The release needs Upgrade Data first. Run it, then confirm.
  • Read LOGS\UPDATE.LOG. To undo an update, use Tools > ProBoard Updates > Roll Back.

See Program updates.
